I'm not known to be the best chef, well I can cook the bare basics to keep me alive, but I do cook the best steak ever, on Shrove Tuesday, I have always used the pancake mixes that you just add milk to then shake until your arm dropped off. Well those always used to make horrible, tasteless pancakes that were lumpy, so I decided to find out how to actually make pancakes. Last year I found this easy peasy recipe that anyone could use and it makes the best fluffiest pancakes i've ever tasted. Depending on how big your pancakes are going to be, depends on how many pancakes this mix makes, I made largeish pancakes and it spread to around 5/6.
Ingredients
Eggs
Milk
Self - Raising Flour
Olive Oil
Salt
Utensils
Large Bowl
Frying Pan
Mug / Cup
Spatula
Ladle
Whisk
Kitchen Paper Towel
Directions
1. Place 1 full cup of self-raising flour into the bowl along with 1 egg and 1 full cup of milk. (Any type of milk will do)
2. Whisk together until smooth. (Too the consistency of double cream)
3. The add a few pinches of salt.
4. Heat up the frying pan then add a teaspoon of oil, then wipe around with the kitchen paper towel.
5. Add a ladle full of the mixture to the frying pan and spread around by tilting the pan. Leave the hob on a medium heat.
6. Use the spatula to keep the thin edges of the pancake sticking to the pan.
7. As the top starts to slightly bubble, flip the pancake. (Either using the spatula or give it a good toss)
8. Repeat the flipping until the pancake is cooked to your preference. (I know some people who like them slightly chewy)
9. Repeat steps 4 to 8 till you have used all of the mixture.
10. Then enjoy your pancakes!!! Add nutella, sugar, lemon or anything you want!
What do you enjoy to have on your pancakes? I'm a nutella and sugar girl.
